Our Services

We have worked in partnership with over 350 boards, executive teams, and senior leaders. Our extensive experience across a range of business sectors enables us to deliver bespoke solutions tailored to each organisation’s unique context. The breadth of our work positions us to share valuable lessons from previous reviews and best practices in governance and leadership, ensuring clients benefit from deep insight and practical expertise. With this depth of knowledge, we help organisations strengthen governance, enhance leadership effectiveness, and navigate complex challenges. As part of our commitment to driving continuous improvement, we offer a range of services, including:

Board effectiveness reviews

External board evaluations, recommended at least every three years under the UK Corporate Governance Code, provide boards with an essential opportunity for candid self-reflection and benchmarking against best practice. A robust and effective board is critical to good governance, strategic leadership, and organisational success. Lineofsight provides independent board effectiveness reviews, offering objective insight and expert analysis to support continuous improvement. Using a combination of activities such as interviews, surveys, and document reviews, we assess board performance against good practice, identifying strengths and opportunities for development. We work together with you to deliver practical solutions that enhance efficiency and clarity, avoiding unnecessary complexity or additional layers.

Board development
programmes

Lineofsight supports bespoke board development programmes designed to enhance both individual and collective effectiveness. Our approach includes whole-board development, tailored sessions for senior leaders, executive teams, and non-executive directors, as well as personalised coaching for individual growth. We work in partnership with your organisation to co-design a customised programme that aligns with your priorities and organisational context, with an emphasis on dynamics, strategy, risk management and the impact of key forums in practice. Programmes are tailored to your specific needs and aim to strengthen board relationships, build trust, and improve the functioning of the board as a unitary team.

Well-led governance reviews
and CQC preparation

Lineofsight collaborates with NHS trusts to optimise their governance and leadership arrangements across the breadth of the Well-Led framework. We focus on the development of systems and processes that enhance overall effectiveness, while sharing best practices to support ongoing improvement. Our reviews can encompass all eight quality statements, or have a particular focus on specific areas such as Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), Freedom to Speak Up (FTSU), or Sustainability. Our reviews are tailored to meet the unique needs of each organisation, ensuring that governance and leadership arrangements are aligned with strategic goals and regulatory expectations.

The team has worked with a wide range of trusts, from those rated ‘Outstanding’ to those on a development journey. Our experience spans specialist, mental health, acute, community, and primary care organisations, supporting organisations to become truly well led at all levels, delivering high quality sustainable care.

We also offer clients the opportunity to undertake a more developmental CQC readiness review at an early stage to support preparation for a future well led review. This approach reviews preparedness and has a strong emphasis on identifying gaps and actions as opposed to providing a detailed report. It can also be applied specifically at the divisional level to support preparation for divisional well led reviews which are becoming increasingly common as CQC focuses further within organisations.

Divisional governance and leadership development programmes

We have a strong focus on divisional governance and leadership because we recognise that the quality of leadership and governance processes at the divisional level directly influence the accuracy, clarity, and reliability of the information that reaches the board. Effective divisional leadership and governance ensures that the board has access to timely, relevant, and actionable data, enabling informed decision-making that drives organisational success.

We recognise that effective divisional governance and leadership also plays a crucial role in shaping the quality of services provided, as strong leadership and clear accountability at the divisional level ensures that service delivery is aligned with the organisations’ strategic goals and operational standards. Furthermore, with the CQC’s increased focus on diving deeper into organisational structures, it has never been more important to ensure that divisional governance and leadership can withstand scrutiny, drive improvement, and deliver against strategic priorities.
